Detecting Wildlife with eDNA

About the event
Through the Cornwall National Landscapes Natural Beauty and the Beast Project, Cornwall Wildlife Trust is hosting a series of community engagement events designed to help local people connect with the wildlife found along rivers and streams.
Come and join Cornwall Wildlife Trust and The eDNA Consultancy and delve into the world of environmental DNA analysis, a way of discovering more about the wildlife in your area.
This afternoon event will start with an introduction to eDNA and its uses for wildlife monitoring, then we will be heading out to collect aquatic samples from watercourses within the Fowey catchment to learn more about the mammals that live along the river.
Key details
- Arrival: from 1.00pm, tea and coffee will be available, we’ll start the introduction at 1.15pm
- 2.15pm head out to sample sites
- 4.30pm return to Lanhydrock Memorial Hall for tea/coffee and round up
- Finish around 5.00pm
What to bring: All materials will be provided
Food & drink: Please bring your own snacks (we will provide teas, coffees and biscuits)
What to wear: Waterproofs (if raining) and wellies or sturdy boots
