An interactive experience
Our virtual tours provide an immersive digital experience, taking you on a journey to connect with nature across our reserves from the comfort of your home.
Using the map, you can easily navigate between different locations within the reserves, exploring key habitats and areas of special interest. Click on the different symbols to find out more about the various species at the reserve and discover interactive materials such as camera trap footage. You can also see behind the scenes of some of our latest conservation projects.
Cornwall Wildlife Trust manages 59 nature reserves throughout Cornwall, providing a haven for the rarest and most endangered species in the county such as the dormouse, lesser horseshoe bat and marsh fritillary butterfly. Our nature reserves are such an important part of the work that we do, and we want as many people to experience them as possible.
Let us transport you to some of Cornwall's most interesting wildlife habitats and natural environments...
Helman Tor
Rich in both history and wildlife, Helman Tor is our largest nature reserve. Spanning over 700 acres, the reserve is made up of a complex mosaic of habitats, including rare heathland, woodland and acid grassland. Across the reserve you'll find a diversity of flora and fauna, including the highly threatened marsh fritillary butterfly.
The tor itself boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside – on a clear day, both north and south coasts are visible from its granite bouldered summit. The reserve has Scheduled Ancient Monument designation due to archaeological features, including a Neolithic tor enclosure and traces of a Bronze Age field system.
Helman Tor is home to Cornwall's largest ever nature recovery scheme, using pioneering rewilding techniques to restore precious wildlife. It is also a key part of Cornwall Wildlife Trust's ambitious Tor to Shore project, connecting conservation across land and sea.
Take the tour to explore the Helman Tor complex for yourself.
