Water company support exciting Wildlife Trust marine events from spring to autumn

Cornwall Wildlife Trust is delighted to invite you to an array of wonderful water-related wildlife events taking place during 2019, all supported by South West Water.

The water company, which is Trust Wildlife Partner, has for the 12th consecutive year committed to supporting a range of exciting marine events around the county, created to inspire local people to get out and about in nature and appreciate the quality of our local wildlife and wild places. In 2018 the joint events were enjoyed by over 3,000 people of all ages, all around Cornwall.

Kick-starting 7th April with ‘Spring in the Rockpools’ in Fowey, and including the Trust’s very first ‘wildlife festival’ in May, there is a host of fantastic events for the whole family to enjoy.

Alan Hyde, Head of Community Relations at South West Water says,

“It is wonderful to support a charity which provides the opportunity for children throughout Cornwall to connect with and be inspired by the natural world, especially those who may otherwise struggle to access such activities. Encouraging the next generation to care for the environment in which they live as a lasting legacy is a passion we share with Cornwall Wildlife Trust.”

Dee Reeves, Marketing and Fundraising Committee Chair for Cornwall Wildlife Trust, says,

“Our Wildlife Partners make an important contribution to the work of Cornwall Wildlife Trust and, with South West Water, we share a common interest in the quality of our streams, rivers and sea and this is of vital importance to us all. These inspiring marine events, taking place all round Cornwall over the coming months can only happen if we have support from the wider community so we are delighted that South West Water is helping us promote the work we are doing to sustain our marine environment."

“Cornwall Wildlife Trust is in a unique position to engage with people of all ages - and particularly with young people - so they can experience nature first hand through our marine and family events. Thanks to Blue Planet we are all much more aware of the natural world underwater and we have seen Cornwall featuring in the programme. We are so fortunate to live where we do as, arguably, Cornwall is home to some of the most spectacular coastline and marine habitats in the country, and partnerships such as this with South West Water, go a long way to helping us protect it.”
