Open Garden - Pedn Billy
Event details
About the event
Pedn Billy’s beautiful and unique 12-acre garden is one for all seasons. Its array of flowers, specimen trees and terraced borders are a glorious sight to savour at any time of the year. Overlooking Frenchman’s Creek, the garden is immersed in history and legend too from WWII clandestine activity as part of Special Operations Executive work to inspiring Daphne du Maurier’s novel. It’s also overlooks where Captain William Bligh, while surveying the river for the Admiralty and putting Pedn Billy on the admiralty charts before he went on his adventures in the Bounty, was apprehended as a suspected French spy! Listen for birdsong and the gentle waves lapping on the shore as you wander through ancient woodlands down to a private beach, Port Navas Creek, and the Helford River.
