About the event

Join us from 13:00 to 15:00 on Thursday 3rd September at Breney Common, for the first in a new series of Spotting & Strolling wildlife walks across the Tor to Shore catchment.

We'll enjoy a slow, sociable walk, practising wildlife identification together and sharing knowledge as we go. The walk will not be led by experts. Instead, we'll learn from one another, using ID guides and identification tools to help us identify and record the wildlife we find. You're welcome to bring your own binoculars, hand lens, field guides or recording equipment too. There is no set destination, just an opportunity to explore, learn and record wildlife together.

Afterwards, we'll stop for a hot drink and a biscuit before heading back to the car park. We'll also chat about citizen science in the local area, how it could develop in future, and how you can get involved.

Everyone is welcome, from complete beginners to experienced naturalists. No expertise is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to learn, share knowledge and support others.

The next Spotting & Strolling walk will take place on 11 September, with further events planned across the Tor to Shore catchment.

Interested individuals are encouraged to join the Tor to Shore Wildlife Recording Facebook page and/or Whatsapp Community, to be part of a wider, friendly community of recorders, and where online identification support will be provided by experts near and far!

Accessibility

The route follows uneven natural trails and may be muddy. There are no toilet facilities available.
