About the event

Shoresearch is a user-friendly and fun method of exploring the shore and recording the species and habitats found there. Shoresearch Cornwall has been run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust since 2012 and in this time we have carried out hundreds of surveys and have trained over 200 volunteers.

Join the Shoresearch team for an evening online session, where you'll learn the ins and out of how to record marine life during an intertidal survey.

We'll be going through species identiufication and how to use the Shoresearch app to conduct effort-based surey transects, walkover surveys and timed species searches.

This will give you a head start and the background knowledge to help you when attending one of our practical training sessions on the shore.

Practical sessions will take place on low spring tides and be situated around the county:

  • Saturday 21st February - Falmouth
  • Friday 20th March - Newquay
  • Saturday 21st March - Mounts Bay
  • Saturday 2nd May - Spit Beach, Par

Youe must attend at least one practical session to complete your training but can attend more. Once registered to the online training, you will receive a promo code to use to book on to the practical sessions for free, which you can book here.
