Wildlife Patrons: Events

Each year Wildlife Patrons are invited to a programme of engaging events around Cornwall to see work in progress and the impact of their support, including an annual lunch with the Chief Executive Officer.

  • Wednesday 25th February, 1.30-4.30pm: Tea, cake and talks at Chacewater Village Hall
We’ll be joined by Emma Rosenfeld, ERCCIS Manager, for an insight into ERCCIS and Cornwall’s biological and geographical data. We’ll also hear from James Webb, Director of Fundraising, and Dan Barrios-O’Neill, Head of Marine, as they share more about the ambitious Saving Britain’s South Coast project.
  • Thursday 21st May, 1.30-4.30pm: Behind the scenes tour of Bartinney Nature Reserve
Join West Cornwall Reserves Manager, Nick Marriott, for a journey through Bartinney nature reserve - a site where wildlife and history meet. We’ll explore Iron Age remains, Bronze Age field systems and the striking ceremonial circular remains on Bartinney hill top - keeping an eye out for cuckoos, Dartford warblers, skylarks, meadow pipits, early flowering plants, and even the Isles of Scilly. Nick will share insights into the habitats and the conservation work protecting this remarkable landscape.
  • Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th June (Times TBC): Behind the scenes tour of Looe Island Nature Reserve
Set sail for the tranquil waters surrounding Looe Island - our only marine nature reserve. We’ll be joined by Claire or Jon, Looe Island Wardens, for a guided tour around the island where we’ll explore its wildlife, history, and ongoing conservation work.
Please note: due to limited numbers on the island this event will be offered on two dates.
  • Wednesday 23rd September, 12-4.30pm: Chief exec’s lunch & Behind the scenes tour of Five Acres Nature Reserve
Enjoy a relaxed lunch at Chacewater Village Hall with Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Chief Executive, Matt Walpole, who will share news about our latest projects, followed by a guided walk with Mid Cornwall Reserves Manager Andy Collins at Five Acres nature reserve - now rich in woodland, ponds, and wildlife. The visit also includes Allet Bog, a SSSI known for its wet heath, mire habitats, and insectivorous plants like sundews and pale butterworts.
