Welcome to Cornwall Wildlife Trust's events calendar. Everyone is welcome to attend our events which are held all over Cornwall. Events range from walks and talks to working parties and evening get togethers.

Donations from non-members are appreciated and all children must be accompanied by adults unless otherwise stated.

Crazy about crabbing at Looe
Looe is famous for its crabbing, but now is the chance to crab with a difference! Marine biologists and local fishermen will teach you about these enigmatic and feisty creatures, including lobsters, and how Cornwall’s shellfish fishery is one of the most sustainable, and important, parts of the Cornish fishing industry. Includes a free cooking demonstration. Free, but donations to the Looe VMCA Group are welcome.

Penhale Sands wildlife outing
Join us for a walk through the Penhale Army training area with local wildlife expert Dave Thomas to see wildflowers, birds, butterflies and reptiles. This is a closed reserve with no access to the general public. The Cornwall Wildlife Trust carries out the conservation work here so we will see some of the action being taken to protect and encourage the wildlife. The event is free.

Wildlife experience near Portreath
BOOKING ESSENTIAL. LIMITED PLACES. Come on a guided walk through woods and fields looking for hidden wildlife such as slow worms and field voles and then prepare to meet the centre's resident wildlife! Rescued foxes will entertain you in their barn, then you can learn about the ancient art of falconry with the tame owls, or you could meet Chewie the grass snake and his mammal friends in the classroom. £5.00 per child, payable upon booking and only one adult per family can attend.

'Butterfly blues walk' at Penhale Sands
This is the time of year when the very rare Silver Studded Blue Butterfly is usually on the wing at Penhale Sands - thousands can be seen flitting around or feeding in sheltered hollows in a good year, so we will have to see what the summer of 2012 brings and hopefully walk across the dunes whilst they are in flight. There are also many other types of butterfly and moths seen here, including day flying species, depending on the weather at the time and during the spring.

'Skylarks, Slow Worms and Soldiers' at Penhale Sands

Join the Reserve Warden on an opportunity to discover wildlife usually hidden from view in this area of the dunes used as a Military Training Area and where public access is not permitted. This is a chance to look at some of the more unusual wildlife found on these dunes, as well as seeing and learning more about the ways the mod work actively with the warden, Cornwall Wildlife Trust and other landowners as part of a management group.
