  • What would you name Cornwall’s beavers?

    The Cornwall Beaver Project, run by local wildlife charity Cornwall Wildlife Trust, has launched a ‘Name the Beaver’ competition to raise funds for one of the county’s most exciting wildlife projects. The Trust and Woodland Valley Farm plan to bring Eurasian beavers back to Cornwall after being hunted to extinction several hundred years ago.

  • Spring squill, bluer than bluebells!

    One of spring’s most vibrant plants is in full bloom at the moment, but not for long! Ligger and Holywell headlands situated on the coast between Holywell Bay and Perran Sands are covered in the blue hue of spring squill. This low growing plant loves coastal headlands covered in a short sward.

  • Only rain down the drain in Helston

    Cornwall Wildlife Trust and the Loe Pool Forum (loepool.org) have teamed up with children from St. Michael’s C of E Primary School in Helston to keep the River Cober cleaner. Children from the school went into Helston armed with yellow spray-paint and fish-shaped stencils.

  • Inspired by wildlife at Trebah

    The sub-tropical paradise of Trebah Garden, near Falmouth once again delivered for Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s annual ‘Wildlife Celebration’. The weekend event, supported by South West Water and West Briton built on the success of previous years and was a wonderful showcase of all the important work the Trust does protecting Cornwall’s wildlife and wild places. Sunday saw a record number of visitors as 1,300 people enjoyed a host of wildlife activities in bright sunshine.
