The mysterious marine world of the seals and their neighbours has inspired a long tradition of celtic stories, which were passed orally from one genaration to the next.

In my book, I have included my own reworking of one such tale: The Story of the Selchie.

It relates how the daughter of the Sea King looses her seal skin while dancing on a moonlit beach. Unable to return to her home under the waters, she marries a young sailor... while never loosing her longing for the sea and her own seal love.

I wanted my book to have something to offer to everyone - including the children of all ages. It is one of the stories my own daughter loved, told at bedtime hour at the end of the day - of many days. More recently, I read the same story to my (much older) daughter and her little cousin. It had lost none of its magic - I hope it will work for your family, too.
