EVENTS WITH GEOLOGICAL INTEREST IN CORNWALL
APRIL 2008 – OCTOBER 2008

These events are open to all and are organised by various bodies. Do your bit for greenhouse gas reduction and reducing congestion in Cornwall by sharing with friends and cutting down the number of cars involved in travel to events. Field trips are at your own risk. Appropriate clothing and footwear are essential.

APRIL

24 Guided walk. Lantic Bay: Squashed Rocks and Sliding Sludge, led by John Macadam. 1pm - 3pm. Adults £2.

7 Walk. (6km/4miles). The Marke Valley Mines, led by Iain Rowe. 10am till approx 1pm. Non-members £2.

17 Talk. The Royal Geological Society of Cornwall, by Stan Salmon, President of the RGSC. 7pm. Lecture
Theatre, Opie Building, Cornwall College, Pool. (CBMS)
28 One day conference. South-west geology: past present and future. Boniface Centre, Crediton, Devon. 10am to
4.30pm. Tickets £25, to include coffee, buffet lunch and tea. Queries should be directed to Jenny Bennett on

6 Walk. Silver, Lead & Corn, led by Iain Rowe. 10am till approx 1pm. Cost £2 each. Start & Finish Menheniot

13 Guided walk. A Changing Coastline, looking at how climate change is already having an impact on the
coastline, how the Trust are adapting to it and challenges for the future. 2pm-5pm. All Tickets £2. Meet at
Poldhu Cove car Park near Mullion. (NT)
18 Guided walk around Predannack Airfield. Boreholes, Bombers & Beef. 2pm-5pm. Adults £2. Meet at the
Predannack Airfield gate (SW 696165). A joint event with NT, the MoD and Defence Estates.
27 Coach tour of the clay country taking in Fowey. Clay Country Tour, with Ivor Bowditch of Imerys. 10am–3pm.
