National Whale and Dolphin Watch Event
2nd July 2009
Cornwall Wildlife Trust will be running a Whale and Dolphin Watch as part of National Whale and Dolphin Watch Week, and invite members of the public to come along to Carn Gloose headland, and take part on Monday 20th July. As well as learning what to look out for and top tips for spotting marine creatures, you can find out about all the work Cornwall Wildlife Trust is undertaking to protect whales and dolphins in Cornwall.
The National Whale and Dolphin Watch Week, which is co-ordinated by Sea Watch Foundation, is an opportunity for everyone to become involved in the research which goes into understanding these magnificent creatures. The national event is the eighth consecutive annual watch, giving a snapshot of activity around the whole UK coast.
We aim to show people how to effectively conduct a watch and accurately record their sightings as well as have our marine experts on hand to help with tips on how to identify species and their behaviour.
So whether you are an experienced sea watcher or a complete novice, come and join us.The watch will be taking place from 10am until 4pm at Carn Gloose, near Cape Cornwall, on the headland to the East of the national trust car park (Grid reference SW 352 312). For those who are unable to make the watch on the 20th, please inform the Trust of any sightings as any information is always welcome.
