Cornwall Wildlife Trust announces Climate Friendly Fortnight
31st July 2007
Cornwall Wildlife Trust is running a Climate Friendly Fortnight between 15th – 30th September 2007. This is designed to demonstrate to everybody in Cornwall that making small changes in their every day lives can reduce the impact of climate change and its effect on our wildlife.
John Breach, one of the three Climate Change Champions for the Trust explained, “We want to encourage people to take part in Climate Friendly Fortnight to show that being climate friendly can be fun, make you healthier and even save you money.”
The fortnight will focus on three key areas:
- Gardening and composting – for example, building a pond, creating a wild area, starting a compost heap or fitting a water butt.
- Using local food and drink – for example, holding a local food supper with friends or taking your family on a local food picnic.
- Car-sharing/cycling/walking/public transport – for example, enjoy the sunshine on your way to work by cycling or halve the cost of your journey by car-sharing.
We want to hear from everyone who wants to take part in holding any of these activities, whether it be inviting your best friend round to sample some local wine, opening your wildlife garden for everyone to enjoy or encouraging your work colleagues to car-share – rewarding those who do with a locally sourced breakfast.
For more information, or to tell us you’re taking part please contact John Breach on telephone 01872 273939 ext 223 and leave a message.
