Directions
Take the Lerryn road from Lostwithiel. On the left, after 2 miles (3.5 km), a track leads to Redlake Cottage. Access is via a gate at the end of the track.
Access
No parking is available here. There are short sections of boardwalk, but the site is generally very wet and uneven underfoot.
Characteristic wildlife of this reserve
This is one of ten sites in the country, and the last in Cornwall, where the rare heath lobelia can be found. In late summer, its loose headed purple-blue flowers emerge from dark green oval leaves that narrow up the stem.
The reserve has abundant insect life, with over 80 species of butterfly and moth being recorded.
Other information
Redlake Meadows contain a well preserved ancient field system and in the 19th century, the wetlands may well have been a site used for the shooting of wildfowl.
