Cornwall Bat Group
The Bat Group is a group of volunteers who are concerned with the
conservation and welfare of bats. Some volunteers are licensed bat
workers and "know their bats", while others are just fascinated
by these little creatures and want to learn more about them.

Dawn and dusk are the best times to see bats flying
All species of bat are declining in this country (one has even
become extinct within the last few years). The Bat Group helps to
promote awareness and educate people about these incredible animals.
Its main aim is to preserve roosts and feeding grounds.
The group is very much involved in survey work, finding out where
bats live and hunt, and how they can be better protected. Members
also regularly organises talks for people of all ages. It is particularly
important that people involved in building work, especially those
building new houses and using timber treatment, understand all about
the animals and are encouraged to be sympathetic to their needs.
The group has produced a special leaflet which explains how to build
whilst still being sensitive to the bats' needs. The use of harmful
chemicals and new building techniques is one of the bats' biggest
problems.
Cornwall Bat Group now have their own web site at www.cornwall-batgroup.co.uk.
