Volunteer with Fox Club
Cornwall Wildlife Trust's junior branch Fox Club relies upon a dedicated team of volunteers. We need your help! Are you interested in becoming a volunteer? It is easy to do and extremely rewarding...
Fox Club is made up of children who are interested in learning about wildlife in Cornwall.
Their £8 annual membership fee provides them with a copy of our Pawprint magazine every school term and the opportunity to attend a variety of children’s events.
Events are held at weekends and during school holidays all over the county, this is where we need your help.
These events are lead by enthusiastic people with either an expertise or general interest in wildlife related issues, ranging from making bird boxes, to the microscopic examination of pond life, to walks along the coast path photographing flowers.
No specialist expertise is required, just plenty of enthusiasm. We will provide any necessary training for you.
Fox Club events take place with the children's parents present and assisting them. All of the Fox Club events require our leaders and assistants to be police checked under the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) scheme to ensure the safety of the children, of which we complete for you.
Each event leader is provided with an assistant from the Fox Club committee, which is made up of Cornwall Wildlife Trust staff and volunteers. The role of this assistant is to help the leader complete a risk assessment of the activity and venue, run the activity and feedback on the success of the event.
Volunteer's are also welcome to attend the Fox Club Committee meeting which meets every two months at Cornwall Wildlife Trust head quarters in Allet, near Truro. The meeting gives volunteers a chance to find out about all the other things that are going on and get more of an understanding of what is involved in Fox Club, you also get to meet other volunteers and share ideas.
Our hope is to keep growing and to get more volunteers involved, to inspire more children to feel the need to get outdoors and enjoy the countryside on their doorstep.
With this in mind the committee always needs more help, and anyone can get involved!
So if you are interested in volunteering with Fox Club events even if just one or two a year, or maybe you would like to lead your own event for us with our support then we would love to have you...
