Marketing and Fundraising volunteer opportunities
Team Gold volunteers
Would you like to help Cornwall Wildlife Trust organise its 50th Anniversary celebrations and become part of Team Gold? It’s our anniversary in 2012 and we are planning our celebrations now. We are bringing together a team of volunteers to help us organise or run events and activities to raise our profile and funds and to commemorate this special milestone.

If you enjoy working with people, or are creative and have a keen interest in marketing, fundraising and PR, then we want to hear from you.
Most volunteer work would be based at our head office in Allet, Truro at our Five Acres Nature Reserve, although there will be opportunities to help out with various activities throughout Cornwall. If you are interested and want to join Team Gold, please contact Serena Pettigrew-Jolly, Marketing and Fundraising Co-ordinator, on (01872) 273939 ext 205 or by email for more information. You’ll become part of something wonderful.

Marine conservation volunteer opportunities
Divers needed for Seasearch project
Seasearch is a national project for volunteer sports divers who have an interest in what they are seeing under water, who want to learn more and want to help protect the marine environment. Cornwall Wildlife Trust is responsible for co-ordinating all Seasearch activities in the county. Go to the Seasearch page to find out how you can help as a volunteer.
Become an Seaquest Southwest Basking Shark Project Volunteer
Since 2008, the Trust has been running seasonal basking shark surveys up at Gwennap Head, Land’s End. Volunteers are trained to carry out land based surveys to monitor basking shark populations and behaviour. Basking shark watches begin on the 1st June and end on the 31st August. Training for volunteers takes place from May onwards. Go to the basking shark page for more information on how to volunteer.
Surveyors needed for Seaquest Southwest project
Seaquest Southwest is a marine recording project run jointly by Cornwall and Devon Wildlife Trusts which collects sightings of all marine creatures from the public. Everyone who uses the coast and sea, for work or play, can help us recording marine life. Your sightings will help us to learn more about where these creatures live, feed and breed, and help us to protect them.
Aside from adhoc sightings, which can be sent to us via sightings page, we are constantly recruiting, training and supporting volunteers so that they are able to carry out the land based surveys in specific areas where offshore acoustic monitoring is taking place and in turn gather information on marine wildlife.
To find out more please see our Seaquest Netsafe page about how to get involved.
Voluntary Marine Conservation Area (VMCA) volunteers needed
If you live near a VMCA (Looe, Fowey, Helford, St Agnes or Polzeath) you can become involved as a volunteer - take the first step by emailing abby.crosby@cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk, our Your Shore Project Officer. If you are in the vicinity of Looe, which has an established Volunteer Group, you will be welcomed if you want to take part in the regular socials, meetings and survey work - such as the monthly seal survey on the Trust's Looe Island Nature Reserve during the summer or rocky shore surveys, or helping with the education and events programme.
The Helford VMCA also has an established group, and new VMCA Groups are being established in Polzeath, St Agnes and Fowey where a programme of activities, events and training are being set up (see VMCA page). Volunteers can help in these areas with education work involving schools, the events programme and diving / Seasearch. For all activities involving youngsters, volunteers will require a CRB check, which is organised by Cornwall Wildlife Trust.
