Open Gardens - Meadowside
About the event
A 5-acre wildlife garden, managed and designed with wildlife in mind, featuring a large vegetable garden, wildflower meadow, 3 large productive polytunnels, an orchard, fruit cage, walled garden with herbaceous and shrub borders and a south-facing gravel garden, both specifically planted to attract pollinators. The orchard features a wide variety of fruit-bearing trees and bushes, including some unusual ones. There is also a small arboretum of unusual flowering trees, specifically planted to attract pollinators year-round, along with two ponds and a couple of beehives. The garden is managed with wildlife in mind and attracts a large variety of birds and insects. Hedgehogs are also often seen along with many rabbits, foxes, deer, and the odd badger. A local part-instrumental, half-vocalist band, Garker Street Band, will also be present at this event. |

An exciting opportunity to become part of the team... Could you be our next Open Gardens Volunteer Co-ordinator?Â
Our Open Gardens programme is managed entirely by dedicated volunteers. Our talented coordinators help us in finding suitable gardens, communicating with garden owners, and overseeing the event days themselves - all contributing to create a Cornwall where nature can thrive.
We are looking for new volunteer coordinators to join this wonderful team. Find out more and apply below.Â
