Ask a Wildlife Question

Got a wildlife question?

The Wildlife Information Service for Cornwall (WIS), run by the Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (ERCCIS), acts as the first point of call for anyone wanting to enquire about wildlife in Cornwall. Acting as a one-stop-shop, WIS allows the enquirer quick and effective access to the Trust’s expert advice and the wealth of biological and earth science information held at ERCCIS.

You can contact WIS with your enquiries by calling a dedicated staff member on (01872) 240777 ext 250 or by emailing wis@cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk

Keeping ourselves up-to-date with a wide range of facts, figures and reports means we can provide information on almost any wildlife issue. Whether you want advice on creating a Cornish wildflower meadow; need help to identify that unusual insect; want to find out what plants and animals can be found in the area where you live; would like clarification of wildlife legislation or want details of how to survey for reptiles, WIS can provide the answers.

Over nearly a decade of operating the Wildlife Information Service for Cornwall and answering an extensive range of enquiries has enabled us to build up information products aimed at answering commonly asked questions. We work closely with conservation professionals and local wildlife experts and groups, so that when you get in touch with WIS, you can be sure of up-to-date, professional answers. We have posted a few of these topical questions and answers on this website.

If you live outside of Cornwall make use of the wealth of information and expertise available through your local Wildlife Trust and local environmental records centre.
