Cornwall Wildlife Trust is holding its annual gathering in partnership with The Lost Gardens of Heligan near St Austell on Sunday 13th and Monday 14th May, from 10.30am to 4.00pm. Join us on Flora's Green within the Gardens and enjoy a really wild day out. There's something for everyone to enjoy...

- Meet Cornwall’s native wildlife with Gwel an Mor’s Feadon Farm Wildlife Centre including a barn owl, harvest mice, grass snakes, birds of prey and more!
- Watch bird-ringing demonstrations - see how Heligan's wild birds are ringed so they can be tracked in the future.
- Learn about the Trust’s wildlife conservation work from our expert staff and enthusiastic volunteers, including the nature reserves team, marine conservation team, Living Landscapes team, the Environmental Records Centre, the Wildlife Information Service, Fox Club and the Trust's consultancy Cornwall Environmental Consultants.
- Find out how to get involved with the Trust through volunteering, surveying and wildlife recording.
- Meet The Lost Gardens of Heligan Wildlife Team to learn all about the wildlife that lives in the Gardens.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are generously offering FREE entry to Wild Cornwall and Wild Scilly readers, look out for your free entry flyer for two adults in your Spring 2012 magazine, sent in early April. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are long-standing Cornwall Wildlife Trust Business Supporters who care passionately about their local wildlife. We are delighted to be holding our Wildlife Celebration with them for the third year.
Normal entry prices to The Lost Gardens of Heligan
The Wildlife Celebration is held within the grounds of the Gardens. If you do not have a free entry flyer normal entry fees apply (free entry flyer sent with Spring Wild Cornwall and Wild Scilly magazine to all members):
- Adults £10
- Seniors £9
- 5-16yrs £6
- Under 5yrs free
Enjoy these activities, some have limited spaces so come early to reserve your place.
Sunday and Monday:

- enjoy building your very own bird nest-box to take away and put up in your garden! £3 donation requested to cover materials. Bird ringing demonstrations - see how Heligan's wild birds are ringed so they can be tracked in the future. Fox Club Scavenger Hunt - see how many natural things you can find in the Gardens and get a prize if you find everything listed on your Scavenger Hunt sheet! Pond dipping - what bugs and beasties live in Heligan's ponds? Have a go at pond dipping and find out. Sunday 13th May
- 10.30am - 12:30pm: Bird walk with Dave Thomas, a local wildlife expert, Cornwall Wildlife Trust Trustee and leader of the Restormel Local Group. Limited to 20 places, pick up your ticket from the ticket office when you arrive.
- 11.00am - 1.00pm: Nature photography walk with Adrian Langdon, professional wildlife photographer and co-leader of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust Photographic Group. Limited to 20 places, pick up your ticket from the ticket office when you arrive.
- 11.30am - 12.30pm: Book signing by Cornwall’s seal expert Sue Sayer, signing her new book: ‘Seal Secrets: Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly’
- 11.45am - 12.00pm: Check bird nest-boxes for chicks with Mark Grantham, BTO licensed bird-ringer and bird expert.

- 1.30pm - 3.30pm: Nature photography walk with Dave Thomas, a local wildlife expert, Cornwall Wildlife Trust Trustee and leader of the Restormel Local Group. Limited to 15 places, pick up your ticket from the ticket office when you arrive.
- 2.30am - 2.45pm: Check bird nest-boxes for chicks with Mark Grantham, BTO licensed bird-ringer and bird expert.
- 2.45pm - 4.00pm: Wildlife walk - a gentle stroll around the Gardens spotting the wonderful wildlife that lives in them, with Cornwall Wildlife Trust Trustee Jane King.
Monday 14th May
- 11.00am - 12.00pm: Heligan's moths revealed! Help us check our 'moth trap' (no moths are hurt!) and find what amazing and colourful moth species make Heligan their home. With Gary Lewis, Manager of the Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly (ERCCIS).
- 11.30am - 12.30pm: Book signing by Cornwall’s seal expert Sue Sayer, signing her new book: ‘Seal Secrets: Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly’
- 11.45am - 12.00pm: Check bird nest-boxes for chicks with Mark Grantham, BTO licensed bird-ringer and bird expert
- 1.00pm - 2.00pm: Bugs and mini-beasts walk - see what tiny wildlife lives in the nooks and crannies of the gardens, with Rowena Millar, wildlife enthusiast and Editor of our Wild Cornwall and Wild Scilly magazine.
- 2.30am - 2.45pm: Check bird nest-boxes for chicks with Mark Grantham, BTO licensed bird-ringer and bird expert.
- 2.45pm - 4.00pm: Wildlife walk - a gentle stroll around the Gardens spotting the wonderful wildlife that lives in them with Roger Whooper, local wildlife expert and Trust volunteer.
