What to spot on Scillonian wildlife trips
By travelling with Scillonian III passengers may have the chance to sight various dolphin species, porpoises, minke whales, basking sharks and sunfish from the vessel as well as a good selection of seabirds. The trip will be guided by Paul Semmens who has worked with Cornwall Wildlife Trust for more than 20 years. Paul has a wealth of experience in both sea life and plant surveys, he regularly leads events for various environmental charities and has worked on local boats offering tourists marine wildlife trips. Isles of Scilly Travel
The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, who run Isles of Scilly Travel, provide an essential lifeline service to the islands. They aim to ensure their footprint is as small as possible to minimise any adverse impact on our beautiful and unique environment, which is one of the UK's 49 designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). They regularly team up with AONB, marine survey groups, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and work alongside both Cornwall Wildlife Trust and the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust providing support. There are wildlife information cards onboard to assist the novice wildlife spotter but the regular volunteers onboard the ship are always happy to share their knowledge.
