Dolphin pinger appeal

Cornwall Wildlife Trust recently ran an appeal for donations for the dolphin pinger trial project. This exciting new project aims to try and reduce the number of dolphins and porpoises getting accidentally entangled in fishing nets by trialling the use of the pinger.

Thanks to generous donations from our members, businesses and the general public, the appeal was a resounding success.

We smashed the £15,000 target raising over £18,000. Cornwall Wildlife Trust would like to say a huge thank you to all who have supported the project through this appeal.

We have now also recieved funding support from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the DEFRA Fisheries Challenge Fund to run the trial, but are still taking donations for which we are very grateful.

The dolphin pinger appeal was supported by the following organisations:

  • Frugi, a local children's organic clothing company. Frugi have supported the Trust through the 1% For The Planet scheme for the past three years.
  • NABU, our wildlife friends in Germany.
