Here are some additional sources of information and activity ideas

  • Breathing Places - a major BBC Learning campaign to inspire and motivate schools to create and care for nature-friendly green spaces.
  • Cornwall Council- supporting the provision of education which is student centred, partnership based and of increasing value to the community of Cornwall.
  • Footprint Friends- gives children and young people a voice on climate change and environmental issues. A fun, interactive modorated forum.
  • Globe Programme - this international programme enables students to measure their local school environment and compare it with other schools around the world.
  • Helford Voluntary Marine Conservation Area (VMCA) - organises events around the Helford and produced the excellent educational CD Rom 'Secrets of the Sea'.
  • Henry Doubleday Research Association's (HDRA) Organic Network for Schools - encouraging schools to sow, grow and nurture plants using only organic methods.
  • Intute - the physical sciences information gateway of the UK Resource Discovery Network including high quality internet resources in astronomy, chemistry, earth sciences, materials science, physics and the history and policy of science.
  • Learning through Landscapes - helps schools and early years settings make the most of their outdoor spaces for play and learning.
  • Linking for a Change - a networking service for schools in the South West region designed to help people concerned with learning for sustainability to find out about each other, get in touch and lend peer support.
  • Mammal Identification Guides - learn how to identify mammals, as well as their tracks and signs, using downloadable identification guides.
  • National Curriculum online - The Wildlife Trusts' national office has been working with the Council for Environmental Education's Curriculum Strategy Group to help make it a little greener.
  • Natural England - provides information for teachers including places that schools can visit, resources for lessons, and contacts for other relevant information about the countryside.
  • Nature Detectives - a project run by the Woodland Trust which helps youngsters discover the natural world and explore the changing timing of the seasons across the UK.
  • OPAL - The Open Air Laboratories (OPAL) network is an exciting initiative that is open to anyone with an interest in nature. They aim to create and inspire a new generation of nature-lovers by getting people to explore, study, enjoy and protect their local environment.
  • Rockwatch - the UK's leading club for young people interested in the earth, rocks, fossils and minerals.
  • Sense of Place - produces high quality learning activities and resources to deliver the curriculum in Cornish schools with distinctiveness and diversity. The Trust has worked with Sense of Place on the 'Our Cornish Rivers' and 'Heath' units.
  • UK Safari - has excellent resources and equipment for youngsters interested in wildlfe and the countryside.
  • WWF learning - an educational site for primary and secondary school pupils.
  • Young People's Trust for the Environment - aims to encourage young people's understanding of the environment and the need for sustainability.
