Looe VMCA

Due to the wonderful wildlife that exists in Looe, a Voluntary Marine Conservation Area (VMCA) was established in 1995.

Also included are the East and West Looe Rivers to their tidal limits. Seaward, the boundary extends to the 10 metre depth contour and encompasses Looe Island Nature Reserve and the Ranneys.

The Looe VMCA is supported by the Looe Marine Conservation Group which is comprised of a wide circle of people with an interest and concern about our important marine environment. We have organised a programme of local events based around the VMCA to offer opportunities to explore and learn more about this very special place. From rockpool rambles to sea bird talks, there is something for everyone, so please come along and get involved!

Perhaps you would like to move up the ladder of interest and become a volunteer! Join the Looe VMCA volunteer group and take part in training and survey work to monitor and assess this beautiful environment or help out with events, fundraising and running the group.
