Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust
In July 1986, the Isles of Scilly Environmental Trust was formed as a registered charity. From the beginning of July 2001, the Trust became officially affiliated to The Wildlife Trusts and has thus become the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust, the 47th in the UK.
The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust (IoSWT) is responsible for the management of all the land that is leased to it by the Duchy of Cornwall on the inhabited and uninhabited islands, islets and rocks. This amounts to 60 per cent of the total land mass of the Isles of Scilly.
Since 2006, Cornwall Wildlife Trust has been developing a close working relationship with IoSWT. At the beginning of October 2007, the two Trusts formalised a partnership working arrangement which sees Cornwall WIldlife Trust’s Management Team acting for IoSWT. This brings the expertise and skills available in a larger Trust to the operation on Scilly, facilitating sustainable longer term development of IoSWT. This will enable both Trusts to maximise delivery of a range of conservation and awareness raising programmes in line with the overall Development Strategy of The Wildlife Trusts.
