Finances
Cornwall Wildlife Trust is a membership organisation and we depend on the regular financial support of our members who care about wildlife and our Cornish countryside. We have a membership of over 14,000 which includes 2,700 junior members.
Our trading arm, Cornwall Environmental Consultants (CEC) is an environmental consultancy that covenants all profit to the Trust.
We receive funds from DEFRA (Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) to help manage our landholdings. We receive funds from local authorities to deliver on certain aspects of their environmental obligations and we bid for grants to undertake conservation project work identified in our Development Plan. We are grateful to all those who donate additional funds.
An extra element of income is derived from the Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (ERCCIS). The Centre makes available a huge amount of wildlife and earth science information relating to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to enquirers such as planners, consultants, students and the general public. We charge businesses for this service to cover the time to put data together, not for the data itself.
The Trust receives much valued support from local businesses across Cornwall both in the form of corporate membership and visitor gifting schemes. Local businesses also offer in-kind support and sponsor aspects of the Trust's work, for which we are very grateful.
Cornwall Wildlife Trust operates to Charity Commission best practice and, as a limited company, is audited annually.
