Welcome to Cornwall Wildlife Trust's events calendar. Everyone is welcome to attend our events which are held all over Cornwall. Events range from walks and talks to working parties and evening get togethers.

Join expert volunteers from the Looe Marine Conservation Group for our ever-popular rockpool ramble! Discover where to look, how to find and identify some of the wonderful and beautiful creatures and seaweeds that inhabit Looe’s amazing rockpools. We’ll help you identify common, rare and invasive species. No nets, please – they can harm delicate rockpool creatures. A free event suitable for all ages. All under 16s should be accompanied by an adult There’s no need to book. The event is free.

Green Hairstreaks at Chapel Porth near St Agnes
Join us in looking for Green Hairstreak butterflies along this beautiful cliff walk. The terrain can be steep and rough in places, but the views are spectacular. Open Garden fundraiser: Old Zanzig, St Issey near Wadebridge
Old Zanzig covers six acres and has flower and vegetable gardens, ponds, woodland and meadows. The main aim is to make a variety of habitats that will attract a diversity of wildlife. Owner Alison Salisbury writes the Trust’s popular Wildlife Gardening Blog. Suitable for families. £4 per adult. Under 16 free. Refreshments will be available. Plant sales.

Looe Island guided walk
Take a boat trip to our unique reserve and join the warden for an escorted walk around the Island. During the 3 hour visit we’ll help you spot the Island’s key wildlife. You’ll also learn about the Trust’s work and the challenges of island life. After the guided walk there’s an optional slide show in Jetty Cottage or time to independently explore the island. Suitable for ages 11+, and an adult must accompany those under 16. £25. Includes boat and landing fees which are payable upon booking.

Booking is essential. A fascinating study day looking at the butterflies and their food plants at Windmill Farm. Learn about basic butterfly recognition and spotting techniques with Cornwall Butterfly Conservation enthusiasts. In the afternoon you will get the chance to put these new skills into practice, you may even spot a rarity! The event is free.

Join us to celebrate World Ocean Day with an exploration of the beach at Marazion. Get involved with a strandline treasure hunt, explore the rockpools at low tide, and do your bit with a big beach clean! The event is free but donations welcome. Heath Fritillaries at Greenscombe Woods near Callington
Come and join us on a field trip to Cornwall’s only site for the nationally rare Heath Fritillary butterfly, which is now established here after a successful reintroduction in 2006. Join local experts for a fascinating study day at Windmill Farm focusing on the invertebrates that call the nature reserve their home and looking at basic invertebrate identification. It will include an indoor workshop session in the morning then a chance to get out into the field after lunch to undertake fieldwork and of course a hunt. The event is free.

Against the backdrop of the famous Looe Lugger festival this event celebrates the sustainable fisheries of Looe and its wonderful marine life. Find out how crabs and lobsters are caught, have a go at mackerel line fishing and learn about the wealth of environmentally friendly seafood available in Cornwall. Cornwall Butterfly conservation open day near Looe
Booking is not essential but useful to know for catering. Philip (Chairman of CBC) and Faith Hambly invite you to their farm at Lethytep, with its wonderful wildlife area with walks and lakes. There should be many mid-summer butterflies flying, and much more besides. Food, including pasties, provided, plus tombola and raffle. Children are warmly welcomed, but must be accompanied by an adult. We ask for a £5 donation to help cover food costs.

Open Garden fundraiser: The Old Watermill St Mabyn near Bodmin
This garden has never opened to the public before! At almost two acres The Old Watermill employs and enjoys the delights of several springs creating one large and one small pond with a winding stream and other water features. Many mature trees and winding paths create different planting schemes to accommodate wildlife amongst the woodland and wetland aspects. An orchard formalises one end while a large lawn with granite standing stone and Rugosa Rose hedge allows for the distant views.

Falmouth snorkel safari
Booking is essential. Join Cornwall Wildlife Trust marine experts on a 1 hour guided wildlife snorkel around the rocks and reefs of Falmouth. £5. Suitable only for experienced UK snorkelers and participants must be capable of swimming a minimum distance of 50m in open water. Minimum age of participants is 8 years, all participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The garden at Coldrenick mixes lawns, beds and shrubs with some ornamental trees. Magnolias, camellias and bamboos all do well and a wooded area is filled with bluebells in spring. Join Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s marine biologists to celebrate National Marine Week with a 1 hour guided wildlife snorkel around the rocks, reefs and eel grass beds of the Helford. £5. Suitable only for experienced UK snorkellers and participants must be capable of swimming a minimum distance of 50m in open water.

Open Garden fundraiser: Trenarth near Constantine, Falmouth
This beautiful four acre garden is set around a 17th century farmhouse in lovely pastoral setting. There is year-round interest with the emphasis on unusual plants, structure and form. An ancient green lane circular walk through woods offers wildlife interest including a pond with a tree fern grove! Trenarth has a resident colony of bats so as well as being able to visit the gardens, visitors can learn more about this amazing species. Suitable for families. £4 per adult. Under 16 free.

Take a boat trip to our unique reserve and join the warden for an escorted walk around the Island. During the 3 hour visit we’ll help you spot the Island’s key wildlife. You’ll also learn about the Trust’s work and the challenges of island life. After the guided walk there’s an optional slide show in Jetty Cottage or time to independently explore the island. Suitable for ages 11+, and an adult must accompany those under 16. £25. Includes boat and landing fees which are payable upon booking.
